The connection between Reggae and Hip Hop is evident. Both genres are united from the birth of Hip Hop in the late 70’s in the Bronx, NYC.

DJ Kool Herc, known as the "Founder of Hip Hop”, was one of the founding fathers of the culture together with Afrika Bambaataa and Grandmaster Flash. Herc being a native of Kingston, Jamaica, always credits his Jamaican roots for his early techniques and development of the culture.
